Thank you everyone for your support. Marble got her surgery this afternoon, and it’s a good thing she did because of how much the lump had grown since her appointment last week. At this point I am just looking to be able to afford her surgery bill. I will have pictures soon :)

You can call around and tell them what the original vet said, and they can price it for you. :) One vet wanted $425 to fix my rat, another (that a friend told me about) only charges $175.
I tried calling a few more places again today, and so far they’re all saying that they can’t give me a quote based off the other vet’s quote, and they’d need an approximately $60 exam at their place and then they would go from there. So for convenience (I don’t have a car or anything and have been having to beg for rides on my campus) and timing (I need to get the tumor out ASAP) and potentially more expensive bills (all the additional $60 fees for the exams they require) I think I am going to have to stick with this current vet. It sucks. I totally agree with you that the price is outrageous and I wish vets around this area were as nice and easy to deal with as the one who took care of your rat. What region of the US do you live in? I’m going to school in the midwest and I’m wondering if the prices are a regional thing. I hope you know that I appreciate the fact that you are giving me advice and support on the matter. It really does feel great to know the rodent-loving community has my back :)

I agree it’s ridiculously expensive. The only issue is time at this point. I don’t have time to shop around and all the vets I’ve called want to see her first for a $50 appointment, so it’ll end up costing the same anyway, you know. I completely agree with you though, and I wish I could find another vet. Thank you for your advice :)
